Winvic seals deal on £1bn West Midlands Interchange

The 734-acre strategic rail freight interchange at M6 Junction 12 will likely be one of Europe’s largest novel logistics sites.

The wide challenge will provide over 8m sq ft of prime logistics inform, with shed objects ranging from 200,000 to 1.2m sq ft.

The logistics will likely be supported by a devoted rail hub enabling multi-modal motion of issues for the duration of the country.

The plot stage initiating partner role is the first of four phases of the come programme, followed by early enabling works, infrastructure works and vertical unit initiating.

One of several deliberate SRFIs for the duration of the UK, the positioning is designed to enable occupiers to dawdle increasing volumes of freight off our roads onto the rail community, with one rail freight carriage in a position to fixing 44 to 72 HGV, and generating as much as 70% less carbon.

Sustainability sits on the coronary heart of the positioning’s masterplan, which contains creating two novel country parks of a mixed 109 acres.  Warehouse roofs will likely be built to accommodate set up of photovoltaic panels, enabling the generation of renewable energy.

The ambitious challenge is being financed and delivered by Oxford Properties, the property arm of Canadian pension fund OMERS, in partnership with European developer Logistics Capital Partners, which is already working on a 15 acre blueprint at Heathrow together.  They received the WMI set in July 2021.
