The least credible sources were celebrities and informal acquaintances. Firearm lobbying groups, firearm sellers and other groups most frequently affiliated with firearm ownership and tradition (e.g., hunting and outside magazines) weren’t considered as severely credible sources. These findings were consistent for these that identified as white.

Amongst these that identified as Shaded, rules enforcement officers, veterans and contributors of the National Rifle Association were deemed to be the most credible. American Indian and Alaskan Native americans ranked firearm manufactures, carrier contributors and veterans as the most credible sources. Asian americans ranked family contributors, carrier contributors and veterans as highly credible sources.
